BallRacing has been developing motorsport simulators and simulator controls since 1994. Over that time we have become increasingly involved in the development of simulators for use in training.
It has long been established that simulators play a vital role in the training of aircraft pilots, and that simulators have developed to be every bit as sophisticated, if not more so, than the aircraft they simulate. The training of pilots on simulators has obvious benefits, safety and cost being major components.
It is our belief that for the very same reasons, simulators should have a place in the training of racecar drivers. As track time costs increase and or on track testing time is restricted simulators should be an obvious choice to help drivers keep up training and track/vehicle familiarisation time. For various reasons however, the use of simulators for race driver training has been limited. Partly this is to do with the quality of simulation that is available for this purpose but largely it is to do with drivers either not realising how effective some simulations are now or being unwilling to admit that there may be some benefits to learning/improving driving skills!
BallRacing believes that the level of simulation software is advanced enough now to actually be beneficial for training purposes. We are developing now a range of driving controls hardware that will interface with the software to create a range of very effective training tools, both for use in a classroom type environment and for private practice at home.
The software and hardware that currently exists will have a beneficial role in training and the degree of sophistication is only going to improve.
If you have a training requirement or would like to discuss the use of simulators for driver training, please contact us.
Late 2002/early 2003 we will be launching a package of training tools.
