The BRD Sim – Racer is designed as an ideal entry level controller and is supplied as a set including steering wheel and pedals. It is dual compatible - PC and Playstation2.

User Profile:
The BRD Sim – Racer is aimed at drivers just starting off in sim racing, who perhaps want to try out the concept before spending larger amounts of money on controls. The Racer is an ideal controller for general racing simulations and games and has the benefit of being able to be used on both the PC and Playstation2.

Features:

  • Unique patented steel steering column design. This sleek and ergonomic design evokes everything associated with motor sport - finesse, quality and performance.

  • Torsion tube design return to centre mechanism gives a good feeling of control with just the right level of resistance. The steering has 270° of rotation lock to lock.

  • The steering wheel is a 10” open top ‘D’ shaped blue moulded race wheel.

  • The steering wheel is attached securely by a large plastic nut which is hand tightened. This means the wheel can be removed easily by hand when not in use.

  • Behind the wheel is fitted a powder coated steel F1 style paddle gear shifter operating good quality micro-switches mounted in the hub.

  • The Racer is provided with 2 additional buttons

  • The Racer is fitted as standard with a high grade conductive plastic potentiometer.

  • The Racer is supplied with good quality plastic pedals

  • The unique design of the steering column gives tremendous flexibility for mounting you steering device, and means there are no brackets or fixings to interfere with your legs etc. The steering is supplied as standard with a high impact plastic baseboard to which the steering column is secured by three hand tightened bolts. The baseboard is then held in place by your monitor or screen, or in fact any reasonably heavy object. This gives the sturdiest of mountings and ensures your steering will not slip or move in use. The optimum method for using the steering involves one of the following options:
    1. The steering can be fastened directly to your desk via a quick release brass fastener system we offer, (see the shop for more details). This method does require you to drill the fasteners into your desk or mounting surface but does give you the most perfect fixing.
    2. The other alternative is to mount the column and your choice of pedals directly onto one of our specially designed chassis systems such as the Race Frame Pro or Game Frame chassis.

  • The Racer is a passive system and does not incorporate force feedback technology. The purpose of the design is to maximise performance and to date the state of the force feedback technology does not allow for this. We are therefore of the opinion that a precise well balanced passive device will provide a more consistent and higher performing system than one based on current force feedback technology. For more information on the discussion on force feedback, please visit the news item on this topic.

  • All our products are covered by a 12 month warranty against failure due to faulty parts or manufacture and have been tested to the relevant European standards.

Compatibility:
The BRD Sim – Racer is upgradeable to any of the products within the BRD Sim range. The Racer operates through the Game port on your PC and with the Playstation2 via an interface box supplied with the Racer unit.

The Racer has been tested on all the major platforms including Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP and with all major PC simulation and games titles.
